Udzungwa Mountains National Park is part of the Eastern Arc Mountains, which is a series of mountains ranging from Taita Hills in Southern Kenya to the Makambako Gap in Southern central of Tanzania
Famous for hikers and backpackers alike, this park is the most bio-diverse park in Tanzania, with a chain of a dozen large forest-swathed mountains that rise majestically from the flat coastal scrub of eastern Tanzania up to approximately 2576 meters above sea level.
Wildlife
There are more than 400 bird species, 2,500 plant species and 6 primate species in this park. 2 of these primates are endemic and include the Iringa red Colobus monkey and the sanje crested mangabey.
What To Do
Hiking and camping are the most popular activities in the park as the park has no roads and is accessible only on foot. Hiking trails range from a short one hour to a 6 day camping trek on the famous Lumeho trail.
